On View: Scott Brooks @ Long View Gallery

Scott Brooks, DC's best know subversive illustrator has a show Saturday at Long View Gallery on 9th Street. Scott was chosen this spring to paint an easter egg for the Whitehouse which represented Washington, DC. He was the only male artist among First Lady Laura Bush's guests and guest what... Scott's egg design featured a strangely beefy panda bear. It looked more like an add for a leather bar than a decoration for the Whitehouse. Cheers to Kim Ward, Director of the WPA for selecting him for the task.

Scotts work combines themes of childhood with deformity and subculture. I'm looking forward to this show.
